Half-day and full-day activities — a city walk, a day at a gorge, a lake excursion — cluster between $40 and $220. Multi-day expeditions — a Song-Köl horse trek, a Tian Shan trekking circuit, a Silk Road overland trip — run from $400 into the low thousands, because the price bundles guides, horses, yurt-camp nights, meals and transport across several days.

So the useful question is not "how much is a tour" but "how much for this kind of tour". Here is what the catalogue actually shows.

Reading it: the cheapest way into Kyrgyzstan is on foot in Bishkek — walking tours start at $25, and several of the highest-rated experiences in the entire country (4.9+ stars) are city walks under $50. Prices climb with logistics: the moment horses, remote yurt camps, or multiple days enter the picture, you are paying for a small expedition rather than a ticket.

• Base yourself in Bishkek and do day trips. You get the widest choice at the lowest prices, and most of the country's famous day hikes are reachable in a day.
• Join a scheduled group departure. Private tours carry a large premium; shared departures split the fixed cost of a guide and vehicle across the group.
• Travel in shoulder season (June, September). Peak July-August pricing softens either side of the high season, when the passes are still open.
• Book through community-based tourism (CBT). Kyrgyzstan's CBT network puts guides, homestays and horses within reach of independent travellers at close to local rates.

Are they worth it?
