Overview

Kel-Suu is the trip serious travellers whisper about: a long, cliff-walled lake at around 3,500 metres in the remote southeast of Naryn province, hidden behind a pass and reached only on foot or horseback in high summer. This five-day expedition takes you deep into a border zone of empty valleys, yaks and eagles, riding to a lake so still it mirrors the peaks. Because it needs a border permit, a 4WD to the trailhead and a small support team, we arrange everything — permit, horses, guide, camps and meals. It is demanding, remote and unforgettable, and we run it in very small groups with guides who know this corner of the country intimately.
