Almaluu is one of the longer-running south-shore camps and is set up for travellers who want a yurt without giving up the basics: wood stoves in the yurts, electric light and sockets, lockable wooden doors, solar-heated showers and a sauna. There is a garden, a shared lounge, free parking and a children's playground, and the hosts work in English, Russian and German — unusual, and useful if you are coming through on a German-language tour. Meals run to a daily continental breakfast plus Kyrgyz dishes in the restaurant yurt. Two honest caveats. First, the showers are solar-heated, so water temperature depends on when you use them — mid-afternoon is the reliable window. Second, and more important, 2025 guest reviews report real maintenance problems including damp, fungus and tired bedding, which sits awkwardly against the agency copy describing the place as a comfort camp; the wi-fi is likewise advertised as free but described by guests as unreliable. It may well have been put right since, but ask for recent photos before you commit. Yurt count and altitude are not published. The quoted rates come from an agency page rather than the operator.
