This is the soft-landing choice at Tash Rabat, and by some distance the best-documented. Twelve yurts of 16 square metres, double or triple, each with a private bathroom, heated floor, shower, hairdryer and toiletries, plus mains power sockets and Starlink wi-fi; bedding runs to beds, linen, pillows, blankets and sleeping bags, and extra camp beds can be added. Meals are taken in a dedicated dining yurt with Kyrgyz and European cooking, and the tariff is published in full, which is rare in this valley. The setting is the point: the Kara-Koyun gorge beside the stone caravanserai that sheltered Silk Road traffic here, roughly two hours from Naryn on the Torugart road toward China. Horse riding is bookable by the hour and the valley walks start at the door. Two things to note. Booking is by online form or email to Ak-Sai only, with phone requests explicitly not accepted. And the yurt count is genuinely inconsistent across the operator's own pages — twelve on one, eleven on another, and a stray meta description claiming up to forty — so confirm capacity if you are booking a group. No camp-specific altitude is published; the caravanserai site itself is generally given as around 3,000 to 3,200 m. Season is June to September.

Getting there

Kara-Koyun gorge beside the Tash Rabat caravanserai, off the Naryn-Torugart road. Roughly 2 hours by car from Naryn and about 1 hour from At-Bashy, the last stretch on a sandy side road reported passable in a standard car. No border-zone permit is needed for Tash Rabat itself; one is required only if you continue to Chatyr-Köl.
