About Jyrgalan Yurt Camp (Terim-Tor gorge)

This is a walk-in camp, and that is the first thing to understand about it: no road reaches the Terim-Tor gorge, so the 14 km from Jyrgalan village is done on foot or on horseback. At 3,100 m it is the first overnight on the Ak-Suu Transverse, the multi-day route that links the Jyrgalan valley to the Karakol side, with the Boz-Uchuk camp a further 15 km along and the Bulak Ashuu lakes about 6 km away for a day walk. Both yurts and tents are offered. The operator publishes coordinates and a set dinner — pea soup, boso lagman and fresh salad — and a season of 1 June to 15 September, which is realistic for this altitude; outside that window the gorge is not a sensible place to be. Book by phone, WhatsApp or Telegram. The caveats are the ones that come with a camp you have to walk to. Nothing is published about the number of yurts, bed configuration, heating, toilets, showers, electricity or wi-fi, and no price appears on any source we could verify, so agree the rate by message beforehand. Assume no shower, a pit toilet, no signal and cold nights, and carry what you need for the walk in — there is no vehicle support and no resupply once you leave the village.
