The Pamir Highway is one of the great overland journeys on Earth, and it begins in Osh. This six-day 4WD expedition climbs the M41 south from the ancient Silk Road city, over high passes into the vast Alay Valley, with the white wall of the Trans-Alay range — crowned by 7,134-metre Lenin Peak — filling the horizon. You stay with Kyrgyz families in Sary-Mogol, ride out to the meadows and lakes of Tulpar-Köl below the base camp, and can continue to the Tajik border. We handle the 4WD, the drivers who know the road, the homestays and every meal, so you can just watch the roof of Central Asia unroll. Optional onward crossing into Tajikistan's Pamirs.

   Day 1 — Osh

   Explore Osh: the bazaar and the sacred Sulaiman-Too. Overnight Osh.

2. 2
   Day 2 — Osh to Sary-Tash

   Drive the M41 over the Chyyrchyk and Taldyk passes to Sary-Tash, first views of the Trans-Alay wall.

3. 3
   Day 3 — Alay Valley & Sary-Mogol

   Into the Alay Valley to Sary-Mogol; homestay beneath Lenin Peak.

4. 4
   Day 4 — Tulpar-Köl & base camp

   Excursion to the Tulpar-Köl lakes and Lenin Peak base camp; walk or ride the meadows.

5. 5
   Day 5 — Back toward Osh

   Return over the passes with photo stops; overnight Sary-Tash or Osh.

6. 6
   Day 6 — Osh / onward

   Osh, or continue to the Tajik border for the Pamirs.
