Overview

The Ala-Köl trek is the classic Kyrgyz mountain walk, and this guided version does it properly. Over three days you climb from the forests above Karakol to the Ala-Köl pass at 3,860–3,900 metres, look down on a lake so turquoise it seems unreal, and descend to soak tired legs in the wild hot springs of Altyn-Arashan. This is a genuine high-altitude trek — you need real hill fitness — but with our guide, porter-supported camps, all meals and a careful acclimatisation plan, you can focus on the mountains. Small groups only. We give you the honest grade before you book, not after.
