The trip starts with a drive east from Bishkek along the Boom Gorge, then a walk in from the road that crosses a riverbed and climbs gradually into the canyon system. The full hike is a proper day out on uneven ground, often several hours of walking there and back, with the reward of dramatic rock scenery and the option to explore side canyons. A local guide is genuinely useful here, as the route isn't obvious and the terrain can be confusing.
A day trip usually includes a private transfer from Bishkek, the guided hike, and the drive back.
