Besides the tower there's an open-air collection of balbals (stone figures), petroglyphs and a small museum. Together they tell the story of the ancient city of Balasagun and the region's Silk Road and nomadic history.

One to two hours is enough to climb the tower and see the museum and stone figures. Because it's fairly quick, many people combine it with another site or a lakeside stop to fill the day.
