Rahat has been running as a yurt camp for more than fifteen years, which on Song-Köl counts as an institution, and it sits at Tulpar Tash in the north-west corner near the Besh Moinok hills — a corner with some of the finest views on the lake. The activity list is what sets it apart: alongside the usual hiking, horse riding and kok boru, it's the rare camp here that offers kayaking on Song-Köl, which given the size and stillness of the water is a genuinely different way to spend a day. Cultural evenings with local families and national cuisine round out the programme. A fair amount isn't confirmed, though: the number of yurts, bed configuration, season window, toilet and shower arrangements, electricity, wi-fi, languages and price. Assume the basic standard typical of family camps here — stove heat, pit toilets, no signal — and confirm everything, price included, before you commit. Given how long it has been running it should be straightforward to reach and book, but don't travel on assumptions.
