Mirlan's camp is the first you come to on the southern shore if you are arriving from the Osh direction, and it is exceptional value: 1,000 som per person a night for a private yurt with breakfast and dinner included — about eleven dollars, against the sixty to a hundred and ten the bigger operator camps charge. A shower is 200 som on top, horse riding 250 som an hour. The family run traditional horse games, folk shows and felt-making demonstrations, and guides can be arranged. Guest arrangements are handled by Meridiana, the family's twelve-year-old English speaker, which tells you a good deal about the scale and character of the place — this is a household taking guests, not a hospitality business. Book by WhatsApp on the number the family publishes; there is no website and no online booking. The caveats are the ones that come with the price. Facilities are basic, there is no wi-fi and no signal at the camp, and the yurt count, bed numbers, electricity and season window aren't confirmed, so ask when you make contact. Confirm the rates before you rely on them too, though prices at this end of the market have stayed fairly stable in som terms.
