About the Karakol Gorge and Sary-Jaz trek

The gentlest entry point in the Karakol region and a useful one if you have a short window or are travelling with people who do not want a week on a horse. Day one rides four to five hours up the Karakol gorge, through pine forest and alpine meadow and across mountain rivers, to a camp at 3,000 m looking straight at Karakol Peak — 5,217 m, and looked at rather than climbed. Day two rides back down and then transfers by off-road vehicle over the Karkyra valley into the Sary-Jaz, staying the night in a shepherd's house; day three drives back. Be clear that only day one and part of day two are ridden — this is the shortest actual saddle time of any route in this dataset, and the rest is a 4x4 trip. Rated easy by the operator, no riding experience needed, horses described as calm and suitable for beginners. No passes are crossed and the maximum altitude is 3,000 m, which makes it the least demanding option here. Two practical notes. Night one is a tent camp at 3,000 m and will be cold; the sleeping bag and mattress are included, which matters. And the operator publishes no distance figure for the ride, so we have left it blank rather than guess. Pricing is published in som, which is unusual and welcome, and drops steeply with group size — from 108,735 som solo to 35,750 som each at ten riders.
