If you want to ride in Kyrgyzstan without committing to a week at 3,800 m, this is the one. Three days, eighteen kilometres of riding, a maximum of 3,200 m, both nights in yurts rather than tents, and a season that runs May to October rather than the tight midsummer window the high routes are stuck with. Day one climbs the forested Kyzyl-Suu valley past nomadic families to the Ak-Tash yurt camp, day two crosses the Suttu Bulak pass into the Kök-Jaiyk jailoo, and day three descends the Jeti-Ögüz canyon past the Seven Bulls — a wall of red sandstone fins that is one of the most photographed landscapes in the country — and the Broken Heart rock. No riding experience is assumed; a short horsemanship briefing is given at the start. There is a two-day commercial alternative over overlapping ground, a 48 km loop from Kyzyl-Suu to the Jeti-Ögüz sanatorium and back through the Chong Kyzyl-Suu valley, rated easy and explicitly aimed at amateurs. One caution on naming: the Telety pass, which links the Karakol valley to Jeti-Ögüz at around 3,800 m, appears in some Jeti-Ögüz itineraries — but every Telety crossing we found is sold as a walking stage, not a ridden one. This route does not cross it. The community-tourism operator publishes no price, so enquire directly.
