أسئلة شائعة

What is the national dish of Kyrgyzstan?

Beshbarmak, which means 'five fingers', is the national dish: boiled meat, usually lamb or horse, served over wide flat noodles and traditionally eaten by hand. It's the centrepiece of celebrations and shared meals.

Is there food for vegetarians?

Kyrgyz cuisine is meat-heavy, but vegetarian eating is possible with breads, dairy, salads, some noodle and dumpling dishes, and vegetable versions of lagman. Tell us your needs and we'll brief your hosts and guides in advance.

What is kymyz?

Kymyz is fermented mare's milk, a mildly alcoholic, tangy drink central to nomadic culture and especially common in summer on the pastures. Offering it to guests is a gesture of hospitality; it's fine to take just a small taste.

Can I do a cooking experience?

Yes. We can arrange home cooking sessions with local families, often paired with a bazaar visit to buy ingredients. It's a relaxed, hands-on way to learn a dish or two and share a meal.
