What is the Burana Tower?
It's a partly restored 11th-century minaret, the surviving landmark of the ancient Silk Road city of Balasagun in the Chuy valley. The site includes a field of stone balbals and a small museum, and you can climb the tower's narrow stairs for a view.
Can I stay in a yurt?
Yes. Yurt stays are a highlight of Kyrgyz travel, especially around Song-Köl and other summer pastures. They're simple and communal, with shared meals, and offer a genuine window into nomadic life.
Is Osh worth visiting for culture?
Very much so. Osh is one of Central Asia's oldest cities, home to the UNESCO-listed Sulaiman-Too sacred mountain and a huge, historic bazaar. It has a distinct southern character and is a natural base for the region.
