A day is usually enough to enjoy Bishkek's squares, parks, museums and bazaars, and it's a comfortable place to rest before or after a mountain trip. Many travellers use it as a base and springboard for day trips.

Karakol's highlights are the wooden Holy Trinity Cathedral and the nail-free Dungan Mosque, plus its lively Sunday animal market. It's also the main base for treks like Ala-Köl and trips around eastern Issyk-Köl.

Bishkek to Karakol is a road trip of several hours along Issyk-Köl. Osh in the south is far from the north and usually reached by a short domestic flight or a long mountain drive. We can arrange transfers or flights.
